So, what is it I DO?

Can I actually help you?
Will you change?
How is this different from all the other shit you’ve tried?

Those are REALLY GOOD QUESTIONS. Here’s my answer:

Most anti-oppression and liberation spaces focus on everything the systems and people around us taught us to believe. About our bodies, our personhood, our sovereignty and our worth.

My work is about unraveling all the awful, self-abandoning shit those systems taught us to DO.

Because oppression doesn’t just live inside us through ideas we absorbed.

It’s an entire ecosystem we’ve spent our lives learning to survive…by constantly adapting, shape-shifting, twisting ourselves into pretzels for the sake of safety, belonging and access.

And at the core of everything we’re doing…lives a habit I call echolocating.

(Quick brush up: bats and whales use echolocation to navigate the world. They bounce sound off their surroundings in order to figure out where they are relative to everything around them. Some blind and low-vision folks have also learned to do it, and THAT is cool as shit.)

But in this case, I’m not talking about a cool-as-shit adaptive skill. I’m talking about THIS:
